A grant from GEF funded student matinees at Antaeus Theatre that provided GUSD students with the unique opportunity to attend a professional theatrical production in an intimate venue in their own community. To help the students gain a better understanding of the various themes from the plays, supporting activities and materials were provided, such as study guides, workshops with Antaeus teaching artists and post-show discussions with the actors from the production.

 

This project provided a high quality artistic enrichment for GUSD students by offering them a deeper understanding to classical theater pieces. This accessibility encouraged the students learn how the plays related to themselves and to society as a whole.
